Gift me a sky |
World AIDS Day 2010 programme by Organisation For Friends Energies & Resources for Children with HIV/AIDS
 |
Universal
access & human rights being the
theme of this year World AIDS Day,
OFFER decided to come out with some
innovative way of observing the
same in the context of the work
of the organisaiton. Since OFFER's
work on HIV/AIDS is concentrated
around the issue of children and
since OFFER is responsible for running
Anandaghar - the Joyous nest,the
only Paediatric Palliative Care
Center on HIV/AIDS in eastern India,
OFFER decided on a completely different
approach.The struggle that OFFER
bears everyday with the children
is the struggle for mere tolerance.

The
children carrying the virus transmitted through
their mothers' womb, face the worst form of human
rights violence every day, that is of mere right
towards human dignity!
Simple
ignorance towards the cause
of the disease sometimes
bars them accessing education,
sometimes from accessing
treatment, many times even
from simple human love.
Insensitivity of ignorant
mass snatches childhood
from these children who
are fighting lone battle!
OFFER runs from pillar to
post for accessing treatment
or for ensuring education
or just for mere human tolerance
for these children living
with HIV/AIDS.
In this context, this year
OFFER decided to gift them
with space, with liberty,
with freedom to taste life
as every other children
fortunate enough to be born
without any disease or disability
can enjoy!
