Fund Raising Event
in Italy -
Italian citizen always have been with
OFFER children since inception. Way towards
Vienna had a small stop at Naples. Friends
of OFFER at Naples in partnership with
Ama Sampre organiased a small fund raising
programme in charity of OFFER. More than
funds, it was the showering of their solidarity
towards the work we are doing. Thanks
Ama Sampre.

Vienna Congress
-
This year OFFER made presence at World
AIDS Congress at Vienna. Raised issues
on Paediatric HIV and its care. The Palliative
care model of Anandaghar got discussed.
Interaction with dignitaries coming across
the field made the journey worth mentioning.
7.8.10:
Rabindranath Tagore
Sardha Satabarsha Train of Indian Rail
Visit by Apanjan & Anandaghar kids
-
To commemorate 150th Year birth anniversary
of Tagore, Indian Railway arranged a train
with Tagore’s memories to travel
across India. In West Bengal kids from
Apanjan, Anandaghar & Apanghar visited
the train and experienced Tagore.
12.8.10:
Team Taiwan visit
-
On 12th August, a team of Professors and
students from Fu Jen University, Taiwan’s
one of best Universities visited Anandaghar
and Apanjan. They made all their way from
Taiwan to India to visit two of the projects.
They spent the whole day activities and
programs. About foster care of children
in need, medical cares, psychological
support, educational activities and last,
but not the least, a shelter to be recognized
as their own home and nest. These special
visitors from Taiwan were glad to spend
one entire day participating with Apanjan’s
children at the painting class and clay
modeling class while choreography session
was held at Anandaghar. Kids were very
eager to meet them and enjoyed their game
therapy a lot.
15.8.10:
Independence Day
Celebration -
The Inmates of Apanjan and Anandaghar
celebrated the Independence Day joyfully
and colourfully this year with Kallol
Ghosh, Secretary of the organization who
was present to encourage the children.
Children performed dances and song items.
A special Yoga art performed by Anandaghar’s
inmates mesmerized the audiences.
24.8.10:
Rakhibandhan -
Tumpa tied rakhi to Bijoy. Shipra to Arshad.
They are all the children at Anandagahr
and Apanjan. Like each year they again
prayed for the long lives of their brothers
who are also their inmates. *
25.8.10:
Chinmoy at Anandaghar
-
This is just another story of human insensitivity
now sheltered at Anandaghar like several
others!
Now 13 year old Chinmoy orphaned, tortured
by uncle were sent to Mumbai as child
labour at the age of 5! After traveling
a long lone path, found a shelter at Mr
& Mrs Das's house as a domestic help.
Chinmoy were having some days of love
& happiness with the family. To the
extent the family gave him a surname as
well. But alas, even that came to an inhuman
halt again!
One day Chinmoy visiting Nicco Park with
the family got fainted. On investigation,
found out to be near without platelets
and a CD4 count of 241!! Meaning a near
collapsing situation!
The family refused him shelter! NRS Medical
College & Hospital referred him to
CRY, CRY to SAATHII and SAATHII to Anandaghar!
But now he is at Ananda, Joy, since he
is now at Anandaghar. *
16.9.10:
Birthday Celebration
of Jet Airway’s Pilot’s Daughter
at Apanghar girls -
Hea, celebrated her 1st birthday with
kids at Apanghar. Pragati Nath Sarkar,
the pilot of Jet Airways Kolkata base
and his wife wanted a touch of true blessings
for her only daughter. The day went off
with giggles, laughters and exuberance.
OFFER wishes many many happy returns of
Hea's Birthday in the spirit that her
parents showed.
17.9.10:
Biswakarma Puja
-
It is the worship of the traditional deity
of Architecture. Viswakarma, the God of
universal architecture brought a different
breath of freshness to Raju, Prem, Mantu
and his other friends at Apanjan and Anandaghar.
All of them were busy flying kites. Yes,
they were happy since Lord Viswakarma
has promised them happiness for coming
days. *

well wishes to Dr Ghosh on the felicitation
programme by Sadhana, the well known cultural
organization of Kolkata

Indian Railway Heritage
Committee visit -
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of
Tagore’s Birthday, several events
have been the organized throughout India.
The Railway Heritage Committee has made
available an entire train which holds
a series of major Tagore’s paintings
and other oeuvres in a permanent and touring
exhibition which will touch all Indian
States. Children from our home were brought
to see the art exhibition when it reached
Baruipur and Dum Dum Stations. They got
so impressed looking at Tagore’s
artwork that they decided to write a letter
that to the Committee. On September 22nd
Arpita Ghosh, Member of Railway Heritage
Committee, wanted to meet our children
granting them with a book on Tagore’s
life for their sincere and candid contributions.
That day Apanjan children performed a
dance based on a Tagore’s “Bir
Purush” Poem.
24.9.10:
Science City Tour
-
On 24th September an amazing trip to Science
City was organized for our Apanjan and
Anandaghar’s children. Discovering
the mystery of ancient times, unveiling
tricky biases of perception, being astonished
by the variety of animals populating the
earth it’s something that everybody
can enjoy and goes beyond any illness
or disability barrier. Children addressed
science with a playful approach and they
really made the most of it!
